Hand Crafted Soap
Did you know that most of the commercial “soap” that you buy at the store is not soap at all? Many are actually detergents, rather than soap. True soaps are the result of a chemical reaction between fats, water, and lye. When combined, they transform into soap and glycerin with no lye remaining in the soap. This process is called saponification when literally means, “the making of soap.”
Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air to the skin. It’s produced naturally during the soap making process. Most commercial soap manufacturers remove the glycerin and sell it to other industries. With handmade soap, the glycerin remains in the soap. The end result is a mild, pure soap that gently cleanses your skin without being harsh, irritating, or drying.
Our handcrafted soap is made from all-natural saponified (word of the day) oils, beeswax, natural colorants and fragrance or essential oils. They have a PH of 7.8 to 8 so are very mild on the skin. All of our soaps are chock full of imperfections, which we like to call "unintentional rustic." All of our soaps lather very nicely due to the castor and olive oils inside.
We have a variety of soaps to choose from, and we just can't seem to quit making more! We are definitely soapnuts, and our membership in the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild means that we are pledged to high quality and no gimmicks!
